Children's Sunday at the Church on the Cape
June 17, 2001 - It was a packed church that celebrated
Children's Sunday. Parents, grandparents and friends watched the children
deliver the Bible's message of love and mercy.

John 15, verse 17 - This I command you, love one another.
In our one-room Sunday School, we learn and work as a family.
Our parents are our teachers and they prepare a bible lesson plus
activities for us each Sunday. As we study and do the activities,
the older children help the younger children. We support one another
and learn from one another. We share our love in this way.

Mark 9, verse 35 - Whoever wants to be first, must be last
of all and servant of all.
One of our Sunday School lessons taught us about being a servant.
When we become followers of Jesus, we love and serve one another,
just as Jesus did.

Jonah 4, verse 2 - You are a gracious God and merciful, slow
to anger and full of faithful love.
An Old Testament lesson taught us about Jonah and the city of
Nineveh. When the people of Ninevah said they were sorry for not
obeying Him, God forgave them. God's love extends to all of us
even when we do wrong. We can be sure of God's forgiveness and
love.

Psalm 105. verse 2 - Sing praise to the Lord; tell the wonderful
things God has done.
In the book of John, Jesus healed a blind man to show God's love
and the man told others what wonderful things God had done for
him.

Matthew 13, verse 23 - The seed that falls on good soil is
the person who hears and understands the Word.
In the book of Matthew, it says that Good offers us new life
through Jesus. Sunday School helps us learn and grow in this new
life. We will carry on this life journey with a Vacation Bible
School in July and the continuation of Sunday School in the fall.

Interspersed with the spoken
word, were performances by four "musicians of the church."

Bibles were presented to the children and congratulations extended
to those graduating from schools throughout the area.
Many thanks to the children's parents and especially Ruth Lovejoy,
Marty McGannon and Debbi Lord for guiding the children in their work.
And a special thank you to Keith McClelland for his musical support.
