The Life and Times of Keith McClelland

(From the York County Star) - Keith Brooks McClelland, 78, resident of Ward Road in Kennebunkport, died May 10, 2002 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

He was born May 31, 1923 in Bismarck, N.D., a son of Frederick and Pauline (Brooks) McClelland. He graduated from Mandan High School in Mandan, N.D. with the class of 1940 and received a bachelor's degree from Jamestown College in Jamestown, N.D. in 1944.

He served in the U.S. Army following World War II. After his military service he attended New York University where he received a master's degree in education.

He was active in several different theatrical ventures in New York City for 25 years before moving to Kennebunkport in 1972.

He was a longtime music teacher at the elementary level at Park Street School in Kennebunk and the Consolidated School in Kennebunkport. He was also a professional musician playing at private functions and also served as church organist for several area churches and for the last 10 years served as the organist and choir director of the Church on the Cape in Cape Porpoise.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Lou McClelland of Kennebunkport; one son, John S. McClelland of Germany; one daughter, Kelly K. Martino of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two grandchildren.
