The New England Brass Band Takes Kennebunkport By Storm!

April 13, 2008 - Doug Yeo, Music Director of the New England Brass Band, brought his 30-piece musical organization to Kennebunkport on a cool spring afternoon. The previously scheduled date in December had to be cancelled due to heavy snow.

The Church on the Cape joined with South Congregational Church in Kennebunkport to bring this internationally acclaimed musical organization to our area. The South Church sanctuary was filled with an appreciative audience as the band and soloists performed brilliantly.

Music Director Doug Yeo, bass trombonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, presented a program of American and spiritual music that will be remembered by many as one of this town's musical highlights.

Doug Yeo performed two solos with the band before an audience of some 250 people.

Doug has been the band's director for 10 years.

Now in its 20th season, the New England Brass Band was founded in 1988 by a group of friends who wished to make music "In the British Tradition." Led by its first music director, William Rollins, from 1988-1997, the band established itself throughout New England with a busy concert schedule.

Douglas Yeo sent the following email about the concert: "The band felt very welcomed by everyone yesterday; it was a successful concert on many counts and the audience seemed to respond warmly.  Here's hoping that sometime down the road we might return to such an appreciative audience. With thanks, Doug"
