Prelude Concert Dedicates Organ to Keith McClelland (December 7, 2002) It was a special concert in the Keith McClelland Concert Series this Prelude afternoon as Carl Bartlett announced the dedication of our organ to Keith, our much-beloved organist and choir director who passed away earlier this year. The music was performed by guest organist Beryl Samia and hand bell ringer Donna Henry. Ms. Samia has a Bachelors Degree in Church Music from Boston University with a major in Organ. At the date of this concert, she was the Director of Music at the First Church Congregational in Rochester, New Hampshire. We are proud that Beryl is now our Choir Director and Organist at the Church on the Cape.
The audience was impressed by the talents of Beryl Samia, Donna Henry and the quality of the Rodgers pipe organ. This was the fourth in our series of organ concerts. It was the vision of Keith McClelland, our former organist and choir director, that our church become a center for excellence in musical performance. Thus, we have established the Keith McClelland Memorial Concert Fund. These concerts are supported through generous individual gifts, the purchase of recordings of these concerts, and free-will donations at the door.
