Organ Concert

                   Christmas Prelude Concert 2004

Dr David Maxwell, who last performed at the Church on the Cape in April, 2003, joined us for our Christmas Concert performing works of Bach, Vivaldi, Purvis, Brahms, Norman Dello Joio and several other composers. He played one of his own compositions, Toccata Nöel.

David, who is Minister of Music at State Street Church in Portland, holds degrees in both piano and organ from the University of Illinois. Having previously taught at Western Illinois University and at the University of Southern Maine, he currently teaches and composes in his Scarborough studio. Her is one of his encores

He was joined by soprano Bonnie Doe Scarpelli. Ms. Scarpelli is well known in the Portland and Boston areas, having performed as guest artist with the Boston Academy of Music, the Boston Philharmonic  and Portland Symphony Orchestras, the Portland Opera Repertory Theater, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, the Maine Music Society, and numerous community and collegiate choirs.  She continues an active career in singing, and teaches voice at Bowdoin College and at her studio in Portland, where she resides.

The concert was well attended by church members and others from our neighboring communities. It was supported by the Keith McClelland Concert Fund.
