Organ Concert

Spring Concert Observes the Lenten and Easter Seasons
Guest Organist: Douglas Marshall

(April, 2006) We have come to expect high quality performances from our organists...and we have yet to be disappointed. The concert given by Douglas Marshall had an additional quality to it - he is a principal in the company that sold and installed our organ. Not only did he help move the console up our front steps, but he recently voiced the pipes for an even, smooth sound. Doug is a master of all aspect of the organ...its design and the music that displays its versatility.

Mr. Marshall was joined by the combined choirs of The Church on the Cape and the First Congregational Church of Kennebunkport, under the direction of Beryl Samia.

While a student of Virgil Fox, he won first prize in the prestigious American Guild of Organists National Playing Competition in 1972. He has appeared with major orchestras including the Boston Symphony and the Boston Pops. He served for 23 years as Organists and Associate Choir Director at Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA.

His program is as follows:

Trumpet Voluntary in A Major

David Johnson

        Douglas Marshall

Doug's responsibilities at Marshall Ogletree Associates focus primarily on design, voicing and tonal regulation to assure the excellence of each of their installations.

'Doug' is a true musical artist, friend of our church and organ visionary. We were delighted to host him at this concert.

It was the vision of Keith McClelland, our former organist and choir director, that our church become a center for excellence in musical performance. Thus, we have established the Keith McClelland Memorial Concert Fund. These concerts are supported through generous individual gifts and free-will donations at the door.
