Taking Care of Our Church

(October 18, 2008) There's always something special about working together to maintain the Lord's property. Add to that a super breakfast and a fine fall day and you have the formula for a grand experience.

More than 20 members of the congregation donned their work clothes and participated in a "spruce-up" party. We began with breakfast...scrambled eggs, bacon, coffee and lots of other breakfast items.

Then, under the guidance of Trustee Chair Dave Chisholm, it was off to work. We cleaned the windows in our new addition, both inside and out and upstairs and downstairs. The snap-out windows and mutton bars made quick work of the task.

The new deck was stained and the handicapped ramp and stairs leading to the addition were painted as were the entrance steps to the sanctuary.

Bushes and trees were trimmed and new paint went on the siding.

There was a coffee break during which we celebrated with song and cake two birthdays - Roy Bruton's and Dave Chisholm.

Many thanks to the kitchen crew who kept us 'fueled' and especially to Karen Dombrowski who captured on her cellphone a visual record of our achievements.

As it always the case at the Church on the Cape, a good time was had by all.
